Getting Involved In Junior Golf

Do you have children or teens who are interested in golf? While golf can be a wonderful and relaxing way to spend lazy summer afternoons or weekend mornings, it can also become more than just a hobby. Young golfers who are talented can enter the world of competitive junior golf very easily. Participating in this sport can help young golfers improve their game by competing against their peers. They could even end up winning a college scholarship for their golf talent!

There's a common stereotype that everyone interested in golf is either an older businessman who spends time at the course with his buddies - or a competitor at the highest levels of the sport. But golf isn't just for CEOs and the tournament-winning golfers you see on TV. This simply isn't true anymore, and it shouldn't stop anyone from getting involved in golf. Families play golf, women play golf, and younger people play golf as well, and are often quite talented. Fortunately, there are opportunities for these young golfers to compete.

The junior competitive golf circuit allows younger golfers to compete on an even playing field with other talented young golfers. They aren't competing against older golfers with more experience, but they are competing against some of the best young golfers in the country, which drives them to improve and succeed. It's easy to get involved in this competitive golf circuit. Young golfers can get involved by becoming a member of the American Junior Golf Association and can participate in qualifying tournaments as well as more than 80 regular tournaments around the United States.

In addition to improving their game through serious competition and meeting other young people interested in golf, young golfers have the opportunity to win prize money and college scholarships. These golf tournaments, like golf tournaments for professional adult golfers, award generous amounts of prize money. This money can go into a college savings account or to save for a car or other necessities. Additionally, college golf recruiters are very interested in attending these tournaments to scout for possible golf recruits for their universities. Recruitment to a golf team means generous scholarship money from a university.

So if your child spends all their time at the course or at the driving range, you may want to encourage them to get involved in competitive golf. It can definitely be a great opportunity for those who have the skill and, more importantly, a love for the sport and the willingness to work hard at improving their game. Golf has a rich history, and those who start competitive golf early often become successful golfers at the collegiate or professional level. The opportunity is out there for those who have the passion and drive to succeed.
