We don't know what this banana tree could have said to?Buakaw Por. Pramuk to deserve?such a savage beating, but we're fairly sure the tree learned its lesson.
In this mind-blowing display of tool-less lumberjacking, the Muay Thai kickboxing champion used nothing but astounding kicks and a couple of jabs to cleave the tree down to size. If you're not familiar with Buakaw, he's been winning fighting championships since 2001, including scoring the Thai Fight Tournament championship in 2011. This just goes to show how powerful a trained kickboxer can really be.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) ? NASA's retired space shuttle Atlantis is a step closer to completing its final journey.
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex broke ground Wednesday for Atlantis' permanent home, a $100 million exhibit due to open in summer 2013. Schoolchildren waved red, white and blue Atlantis flags ? 33 flags representing each of Atlantis' space missions ? as state and local dignitaries joined former shuttle staff at the construction site.
The astronaut who commanded Atlantis' final spaceflight, Christopher Ferguson, told the more than 100 guests that Atlantis will serve as "a reminder of the limitless potential" of Americans and also inspire children, some of whom will become future space travelers.
Ferguson, who now works for Boeing on new space vehicles, made note of the effort to preserve the past while working toward the future: "I'd like you all to stay tuned as we turn to the next chapter of the journey that will never end."
Shuttle Discovery will actually be the first to ship out to museums. In April, it will head to the National Air and Space Museum's display hangar outside Washington. Shuttle Endeavour will travel to the California Science Center in Los Angeles in the second half of the year.
NASA's 30-year shuttle program ended last July with the voyage of Atlantis. Since then, workers have been getting them ready for display by draining hazardous fuel, disconnecting or removing some systems and replacing the main engines with replicas.
Delaware North Parks & Resorts, which runs the Kennedy visitor complex for NASA, used an industrial-size digger to unveil a huge picture of the planned exhibit hall. The six-story structure will feature two curved "wings" in orange and gold colors, representing the intense heat of re-entry.
Atlantis will be displayed as if flying in orbit, with the cargo bay doors open and the robot arm extended.

Thousands of sites blacked out to protest SOPA legislation.
By Gil Kaufman
Google's homepage to protest web piracy bills
Photo: Google
A big black bar over the typically animated Google home page logo. No quick searches on the English-language Wikipedia.
Those two internet giants are among the nearly 7,000 sites that voluntarily went dark or posted calls to action on Wednesday (January 18) in a protest against the U.S. House of Representatives' Stop Online Piracy Act and the Senate's similar Protect IP Act.
The Act is designed to prevent online piracy and copyright infringement by giving the government and large corporations the ability to shut down sites accused of copyright infringement without a trial or hearing. The point of the legislation, according to the Washington Post is to stop foreign web sites that sell pirated and counterfeit goods by imposing restrictions that would force U.S. companies to stop selling online ads to suspected pirates, processing payments for illegal online sales and refusing to link to sites suspected of piracy in search-engine results.
"There's no fundamental First Amendment right to engage in thievery. Nor to advertise thievery," said Motion Picture Association of America spokesperson Howard Gantman.
Among the sites that are participating in Wednesday's protest: Reddit, Mozilla, Wordpress.org, MoveOn.org, TwitPic, BoingBoing, Flickr, the Cheezburger network and Epic Games.
Though many major Hollywood movie studios, record labels and networks such as Viacom (MTV News' parent company), NBC-Universal and Fox News have given support to the legislation, web experts have warned that it could severely cripple the ability of the internet to function by adding huge new costs and rules that would seriously restrict the freewheeling personality of the 'net and stall innovation.
As an example, they say that if an crowd-sourced site like Wikipedia posts an item that links to a site that provides access to copywritten material it could result in sanctions or a takedown of Wikipedia. In essence, it would require tech companies to take a fine-tooth comb to sites bursting with user-generated content. They've also objected to a provision that would remove the rogue sites from the internet's virtual phone book, so that if a U.S. user put in that web address it would seem as if the site didn't exist.
"Imagine a world without free knowledge," read the Wikipedia home page on Wednesday morning.
"For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia."
Members of Congress have been taken aback by the visceral reaction from technology companies and online users, who may have already made headway in stalling the legislation. Just weeks after both bills seemed close to passage, Senate Democrat leaders have said they will not vote on a version of the bill opposed by many of the tech companies and are seeking a slow down of passage and possible revision of their bill. The White House has also signaled that it is concerned about the phone book provision in the bills, which its sponsor said they plan to remove.
Several major opponents have submitted a counter proposal that would allow them to police themselves with oversight by an international nonprofit that hunts down online rogues.

ISLAMABAD (AP) ? Intercepted militant radio communications indicate the leader of the Pakistani Taliban may have been killed in a recent U.S. drone strike, Pakistani intelligence officials said Sunday. A Taliban official denied that.
The report coincided with sectarian violence ? a bomb blast in eastern Pakistan that killed 14 people in a Shiite religious procession.
The claim that the Pakistani Taliban chief was killed came from officials who said they intercepted a number of Taliban radio conversations. In about a half a dozen intercepts, the militants discussed whether their chief, Hakimullah Mehsud, was killed on Jan. 12 in the North Waziristan tribal area. Some militants confirmed Mehsud was dead, and one criticized others for talking about the issue over the radio.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to reporters.
Pakistani Taliban spokesman Asimullah Mehsud denied the group's leader was killed and said he was not in the area where the drone strike occurred.
In early 2010, both Pakistani and American officials said they believed a missile strike had killed Hakimullah Mehsud along the border of North and South Waziristan. They were proved wrong when videos appeared showing him still alive.
The Pakistani Taliban is linked to attacks against U.S. targets. They trained the Pakistani-American who tried to detonate a car bomb in New York City's Times Square in 2010 and is tied to a suicide bombing that killed seven CIA agents at an Afghan base in 2009.
There was no claim of responsibility for Sunday's bombing that killed 14 people during a Shiite observance in Punjab province in the east ? the latest of a series of sectarian attacks in volatile Pakistan.
Hundreds of Pakistani Shiites gathered in the town of Khanpur in Punjab province for a traditional procession to mark the end of 40 days of mourning following the anniversary of the death of Imam Hussein, a revered seventh-century figure.
The explosion went off as the mourners left a mosque, said District Police Chief Sohail Chatta. The bomb appeared to have been planted ahead of time in the path of the procession, he said.
The Pakistani Taliban and other Sunni extremist groups have in the past claimed responsibility for the bombings of Shiite religious sites and ceremonies. Many Sunni extremists in Pakistan regard Shiites as heretics.
The Taliban and other groups have carried out hundreds of bombings over the last five years that have killed thousands of Pakistani troops and civilians as part of a campaign to install a hard-line Islamist government.
The attacks are so common that the country's interior minister in December actually thanked the Taliban for acting on what he said was a "request" not to stage attacks during the Shiite rituals of Ashoura that month.
Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah said police investigators were still examining the area of Sunday's bombing for clues. Security was provided for the procession, but it was breached, Sanaullah said.
The continuing strikes by presumed religious extremists come during a political crisis that pits the Pakistani civilian government against the military, sparking rumors of an impending coup.
Last week the military warned the government of possible "grievous consequences" ahead, and President Asif Ali Zardari took a one-day trip to Dubai that renewed speculation that he might flee the country.
Analysts say the military may be looking for the Supreme Court to push out Zardari rather than risk an outright takeover.

MTV News reporter spends awards-show night chatting with George Clooney and chasing Lindsay Lohan and Diddy.
By Josh Horowitz
George Clooney at the 2012 Golden Globes
Photo: Getty Images
On Sunday, I covered my fourth (fifth? It's all getting a bit fuzzy in my mid-30s) Golden Globes, and let me tell you, it was wild! I laughed with George Clooney, bro'd out with Michael Fassbender, ogled Michelle Williams' trophy up close, and capped the night off with Diddy and Lindsay Lohan. I also was in bed eating a piece of cheesecake from room service before midnight. All of these things are true. Such is the bizarre event the Hollywood Foreign Press puts on every year. You're a sketchy odd bunch, but you throw a hell of a party, guys! Thanks for the memories.
I've been lucky enough to cover the Oscars and the entire awards-show circuit the past few years at MTV News, and it is a fantastically glamorous and surreal bubble filled with moments that bend the mind (it's like "Inception" if everyone were pretty. Huh?). It's also a job — meaning it's filled with massive frustrations and insults, just as anyone experiences in their 9 to 5. Unfortunately for me, when I start whining about "Glee" star Cory Monteith racing by me at a party, ignoring my request for an interview, most people want to punch me in the face. I get it. I really do. But I can be as miserable as the next person (actually, I think I can be more miserable than the next person), and no one is going to take away my right to bitch about a pushy publicist who gives me an earful about her client I'd be a fool not to talk to. Nobody!
I couldn't bring you all with me to the Globes, unfortunately. Well, come on, where would I have put you? Really, be sensible! But I can give you a peek into some illuminating/ absurd/ just plain odd moments I experiences in my strange gig.
George Clooney and I are best friends!
George Clooney and I are not best friends. George Clooney doesn't know my name. George Clooney is not inviting me to Lake Como. My wife and I are not going on a double date with him and his Amazonian girlfriend (seriously, was she in Avatar?). But George Clooney sure is good at seeming like you're his best friend.
I interviewed George a couple days ago at the Critics' Choice red carpet (most notable for me calling him old and him taking my microphone away). And a few days before that, we talked to him in New York at the National Board of Review red carpet ('tis the season). When the Cloonster (I can call him that: We have an understanding) saw me Sunday night, moments before his Best Actor win, he said he was relieved I was wearing a tie tonight but I still need to do something about the scruff. Dreamy, right? BFFs!
Actually, he'd combined me in his memory with a fellow MTV News-er, whom he'd talked to at the NBR in New York without the tie. It's all good, George. You have a lot on your plate. See you at the Oscars.
The night belonged to Fassbender's member
That doesn't rhyme does it? I'm waiting for my flight home to New York (Al Roker is here!) and it will just have to do. Though Michael Fassbender didn't win a prize for "Shame" Sunday night (see previous item on the Cloonster), he was a big topic in my red carpet interviews. Before I get to the silly stuff, let me just echo many by saying he delivers an awesome performance in "Shame" that should not be missed. Not good for a date night though. You've been warned.
Anyway, Fassbender is an all-around cool guy in my experience. Exhibit A: When I sprung an impromptu After Hours on him a month ago wherein he had the task of identifying celebrities based solely on photos of their penises (he did really well!). Last night, he told me friends have been giving him grief for being a "penis expert." Later in the night, Fassbender's genitalia came up (so to speak) in my conversations with Ewan McGregor (of course) and Paris Hilton (er, also of course?). Let it be known that Paris has not seen "Shame" yet but seemed quite excited when I told her what she was in for.
Lindsay Lohan and Diddy have odd ideas about interviews
Where would one run into the likes of Ewan McGregor and the star of "The Hottie and the Nottie"? (I tease: Paris actually couldn't have been sweeter). Why the Weinstein afterparty! Also Meryl Streep and Kim Kardashian. America really is a melting pot! The Weinstein party (er, the carpet heading into it — I never went in) was a festive one and why not? Harvey's flicks dominated.
Uggie, the dog from "The Artist," seemed thrilled to be there. As did the whole gang from "My Week with Marilyn," celebrating Michelle Williams' win. But it was the random folks that were most fun to talk to. Why look, it's Chris Tucker! Say, it's a real housewife! And then there was Diddy swaggering as only he can down the carpet. I practically threw myself in his path so we could talk. He stopped, but he didn't exactly talk. Instead he had his "spokesman" (Swizz Beatz by his side) answer all my questions. Whatever works, Diddy.
And then there was the last interview of the night. Truth be told, it wasn't much of an interview. Just as we were packing up our troubles, there she was: the one, the only, Lindsay Lohan. "This is it!" I screamed to no one in particular. Lindsay raced by, only to reconsider. I was going to get something good. Cloonster was but an amuse-bouche. This is what it was all about. Tears would be shed. Confessions made. That weird stripper movie of hers would be dissected. "So, I hear you're playing Elizabeth Taylor soon?" I began. She smiled and grabbed my arm. And without a word, she was gone. Thank you, Hollywood Foreign Press. Thank you.
Check out the 2012 Golden Globes winners, and don't miss all the fashion from the Golden Globes red carpet!
